Marsh & Associates, Inc. Company History

Since its founding in 1996, Marsh & Associates, Inc. has steadily built itself into a design leader, with offices in Colorado and Texas. MAI was founded by industry veteran Mike Marsh and a core group of architects and interior designers who had collaborated on numerous golf and hospitality projects. This tight-knit group came together with a shared goal of providing pioneering world-class golf clubhouse & resort design, combined with old-fashioned personalized service.

The result has been an impressive roster of distinguished and award-winning projects throughout the world, including projects in the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Korea, China, Russia, and India. MAI has built a strong reputation for delivering a winning combination of golf and resort design expertise, trend-setting design, personalized service, and a deep-seated passion for doing great work.

A Comprehensive Process Proven Over Time

MAI takes a comprehensive approach to projects by designing not only the principal structures such as clubhouses or hotels, but also the secondary structures that comprise the built environment of a club or resort. Our inspired, award-winning work in architecture and interior design for fitness and pool facilities, beach and social clubs, lodging, sales centers, gatehouses, and equestrian facilities become an integral part of the overall member experience at country clubs, and resort-style communities.

An Impressive Array of Design Awards Over 20+ Years

Our team is proud of being recognized for design excellence. Marsh & Associates has consistently been named among the “Top Hospitality Architecture Firms” by Hospitality Construction Magazine. Crittenden Golf, Inc. has awarded MAI “Best Clubhouse of the Year” 8 times.

We truly are known as one of the best golf clubhouse architects, and our expertise is second to none. Our design solutions are known for being highly functional and cost-effective, as well as elegant. Marsh & Associates offers the experience and acumen that results in inspired design to transform our clients’ visions into brilliant reality.

Sustainability Is Incorporated Into Every Project

MAI has a commitment to sustainability, and a number of our designers have earned LEED accreditations. As a result, we have the knowledge, experience, and commitment to incorporate the use of environmentally responsible design, planet-friendly building products, and more.

As architects who design buildings that often celebrate their natural surroundings, we strive to provide environmentally sensitive and sympathetic structures and amenities. We take pride in envisioning and creating facilities that commune comfortably and contextually with their surroundings and that encourage the inhabitants to recognize and appreciate these great and precious natural gifts. Consequently, we subscribe to the central tenets of sustainability in our clubhouse designs, and can provide LEED-compliant design upon request.

President

Mike Marsh is President and Founder of Marsh & Associates, Inc., and a licensed Architect who holds current registrations in numerous states.  He graduated from the Architecture program at Iowa State University in 1981, and has since specialized almost exclusively in hospitality and clubhouse architecture, planning, and interior design, eventually founding MAI in 1996. His experience encompasses high-profile projects in China, Korea, Macau, India, Russia, Mexico, Canada, and Costa Rica, as well as more than 50 projects throughout the United States.

In addition to his architecture and interior design skills, Mike’s success – and that of his company – comes from a deep understanding of the resort environment, his membership at four clubs, the operational needs of clubs and resorts, and the always-evolving services and amenities that matter most to their members and guests. His straightforward manner can quickly bring order and clarity to competing priorities, and his consummate familiarity with the project type allows him to develop reliable budgets and impart credible expectations for a project’s outcome. Mike is adept at visualizing concepts for site and space planning issues, applying the input of the client group, and concisely conveying the solution to secure consensus and support. His staff has adopted and employs that same singular focus and resolve, whether for a hotel or clubhouse, or a maintenance shop or cart barn.

Mike’s expertise has delivered highly functional and universally respected facilities to a host of esteemed clients. This commitment to stay at the forefront of the golf hospitality industry has brought MAI many coveted design awards, including Golf Inc. Magazine’s “Best Private Clubhouse” in the U.S. eight times, and the Gold Nugget Grand Award for “Best Clubhouse/Recreational Facility in North and South America” four times. The firm has been named Boardroom Magazine’s “Interior Design Firm of the Year” and “Clubhouse Architect of the Year.”  Mike is frequently invited to lecture at industry events, and was the featured keynote speaker at hospitality conferences for emerging markets in South Africa and Russia.
